Damn You Writers Block

Damn you writers block
It has happened again

Half finished poems
sentences stopping in the middle

Cannot seem to finish
what I have started

Over-criticising my own work
after reading it over again

With the pen in my hand
while staring at a blank page

The creative side
just will not work

The stanzas won’t connect
or flow smoothly

In frustration I try a new page
with the idea
it’ll help me think

Tapping my pen on the book
I try again
but cannot seem to make it work

One day
I’ll look back at my
half written poems

And make something of them
But for now...
I give up
